The company
Since 1865, Queensland Rail Transit Authority, also known as QR, is a railway operator in the state of Queensland. Owned by the Queensland Government, Queensland Rail operates suburban and long-distance passenger services. It also owns and maintains approximately 8,000 kilometres of track.
Their Services
Queensland Rail Travel offers the largest and the most comprehensive network of long distance and tourist trains in Australia. Its services extend along the Queensland coastline from Brisbane to Cairns and West to Charleville, Longreach and Mount Isa. 10 trains lines offer the possibility for travellers to experience reef, outback, rainforest, beach, and city.
Different travelling options are available : economy/business seats, sleeping berths, meals. Queensland Rail Travel offers point to point travel tickets or rail passes for international travellers : the Queensland Explorer Pass or East Coast Discovery Pass. These rail passes are a really flexible, great value and green way to discover Queensland.
