Today, we are doing a short walk to the Huka Falls which are quite impressive, not because of their hight, but because their flow could fill 4 or 5 olympic pools in a minute!

On the return way, we stop to take a bath in a natural hot stream. So relaxing! After that, it is time to reach the Tongariro Alpine Crossing Base Camp and to get prepare for the hike!

The weather is still cloudy but we are going to Broken Hills to walk a short track in a former golden mines area. We can even walk into an old unnel (500 m long). Very exciting!

We then drive to Rotorua where we are going to camp. Here, the geothermic activity is so intense that we can cook in a Hangi (a sort of natural steam cooker) and the ground is also naturally warm, perfect for camping!

Today we hit the road from Paihia to Te Puru ! Weather is not so good but still we make a few stops along the way. First we stop in Kawa Kawa to visit a Glow Worm Cave. Actually, very interesting thanks to our guide who knew a lot about glow worms and the cave. She was also very funny !

For lunch we stop on a beach even though it was raining…

We arrived yesterday in Auckland, where we met Kim & Nico, two french friends who are spending their holidays in NZ. We’ll spend tje week with them. This morning, we visit Auckland but the weather is rainy so we don’t stay long. Kim & Nico have a rental car, so we decide to go to Bay of Islands. We stop in Paihia, a small town famous for its beautiful beaches. Too bad the weather is not with us, we can’t reall enjoy it…
